    Drew Simri

Creating Cincy Pride Counseling is a return to my roots of why I entered the mental health field.  As a gay man and native of the greater Cincinnati area, I intimately understand the dynamics of our community and am aware of the need for LGBTGEQIAP+ affirming services.  I combine my personal and clinical experience to provide a unique treatment approach for each client.  I passionately believe in every individual’s ability to succeed in creating a life of meaning, fulfillment, and happiness.

    My Mission

Cincy Pride Counseling offers professional counseling services to people of all genders and sexual orientations in the greater Cincinnati area. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere to foster growth and self-exploration. Respect, equality, dignity, acceptance, and compassion are core values of CPC and pillars for its approach to counseling.

    Education and Approach

I am a mental health and chemical dependency counselor passionate about providing high-quality and culturally competent services to the LGBTGEQIAP+ community. In following this passion, I formed Cincy Pride Counseling in 2018. I graduated with a masters in mental health counseling from the University of Cincinnati and gained experience working with a variety of populations, including adults with mental health diagnoses, youth and their families, and those battling substance use and addiction. My counseling approach is rooted in the belief that pain and suffering are the result of disconnection. This disconnection can take several forms, including disconnection from others or disconnection from a part of ourselves. Through therapy, I use an eclectic approach to repair those connections and help clients live a life of deeper meaning, fulfillment, and joy. I draw on techniques from mindfulness, existentialism, person-centered therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and narrative therapy among others to tailor therapy specifically to each individual.

    Certification

I am certified by the International Transgender Certification Association (ITCA) as a board-certified Transgender Care Therapist (TCT) and by the Evergreen Institute as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). I am also a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities (SAIGE), and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). I believe in active and continuous learning to provide up-to-date and high-quality care to my clients.
